Dwarka is Asia’s largest residential area, providing homes for than 1.1 million people. The entire area of Dwarka was built on a new policy initiated by the DDA know as Mix Land Use. This policy has served its purpose well. However, the Delhi government is planning to extend Dwarka. This would be known as Dwarka Phase 2. This progress has been done keeping in mind the future growth of population of Delhi and the saturation of Dwarka.
Dwarka Phase 2 is based on a new policy initiated by the DDA known as the Land Pooling Policy. This policy is the basis of Master Plan Delhi 2021. According to the extensive research done by the officials of DDA, there would be an upsurge of 8 million people in Delhi in the coming 5-6 years. This may become an issue, but the government has already begun to provide for a world class living space for people here. Dwarka Phase 2, being a part of the Dwarka zone is an upcoming project of the L zone according to the MPD. It has an estimated area of 1688Ha and is bound to provide housing for lacs of people. The infrastructure for this land would be provided by the government in the form of roads, public facilities etc. After this, the government would allocate this developed land to the private builders so that they can construct affordable houses for the people of Delhi. Not only that, Dwarka Phase 2 will be close to many important locations such as upcoming DiplomaticEnclave and AIIMS 2, the international airport and Dwarka Expressway. The genesis behind Dwarka Phase 2 is to provide middle class people a chance to live in one of the posh localities of Delhi with affordable luxurious houses.
